We are pleased to present a preliminary calendar of events for the 2022 season. These events are organized by the Société Promotion Grand-Pré, the Landscape of Grand-Pré -UNESCO World Heritage Site, Les Amis Grand-Pré and Parks Canada. It was in August 1922 that a special train brought more than 2,000 Acadians to Grand-Pré for the grandiose ceremony of the blessing of the cornerstone of the Memorial church. THURSDAY JULY 28
Commemoration the Acadian Deportation 2022
This year's commemoration will be marked by a tribute to the founding women of Acadie. Come meet three Acadian founders : Marie LeBlanc (Anika Lirette), Marie-Josephte Robichaud (Clara Dugas) and Marguerite Mius d’Entremont (Susan Surette-Draper) during a walking & driving tour that will begin at the Grand Pré Historic Site, continue to the View Park and end at 5:55 p.m. at the Deportation Cross in Horton Landing.
The walk starts at 4 PM in French and 4:15 PM in English at the Visitor Centre.

FRIDAY JULY 29 - CANCELLED
ZACHARY RICHARD CONCERT CANCELLED We are very sorry to inform you that the show which was to take place on Friday July 29 at Grand-Pré has been canceled by Zachary Richard for health reasons. Mr. Richard explained that he suffered a punctured eardrum and under doctors orders, he cannot fly or sing for several days. The management of the Société Promotion Grand-Pré is exploring the possibility of rescheduling the show to another date. We will contact all ticket holders within two weeks to inform them of possible options and refund methods for those who cannot come at a later date. |

- 9:15 AM : La famille LeBlanc greets you at the National Historic Site
- 10 AM : 100th Anniversary Ceremony of the Memorial Church. Come blow out 100 candles with us!
- 10:30 AM : Presentation in French on the history of the Memorial Church with Sally Ross, Claude DeGrâce and Susan Surette-Draper. (the same conference will be presented on Sunday at 10:30 AM)
- NOON : Light Acadian lunch (donations accepted) for the first 125 people.
- 12 :30 PM : Cri de terre Poetry Event « Rassembler les poètes à Grand-Pré », a tribute to Raymond Guy LeBlanc. With presentations by Herménégilde Chiasson, Marc Arseneau, André Muise and Mélodie Jacquot-Paratte. Read the poem here (in French)

SATURDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 30
- 2 PM : Concert by Ronald Bourgeois, singer-songwriter from Chéticamp.
- 3 PM Acadian Fiddles: a demonstration by fiddlers from all over Acadia, followed by a traditional music ''jam'' session open to all amateur musicians in the region. With Denise Daigle, Sébastien Dol, Robin LeBlanc, Pascal Miousse, Karine Gallant and Robert-Yves Mazerolle.

SUNDAY JULY 31
- 10:30 AM Presentation in English on the history of the Memorial
Church with Sally Ross, Claude DeGrâce and Susan Surette-Draper. - 11:30 AM to 1 PM : Community BBQ - free for the first 125 people.
- 12:30 PM : Concert by Sirène & Matelot - Lennie Gallant and Patricia Richard from Prince Edward Island. Opening act : Micci.

EXHIBITIONS (JULY & AUGUST)
During July and August, the Art Gallery will feature reproductions of newspaper headlines and articles between 1917 - 1922 that capture the excitement of the acquisition of the land at Grand-Pré and the building and dedication of the Memorial Church. This exhibition will also be supplemented with an audio visual display of period photographs from the early 20th century.
The Memorial Church will feature Jamie Robertson’s panoramic images of the opening of the Church in 1922 taken by H.H. Reid, this will provide a wonderful backdrop for the Subscriptions Registry of individual donations from the Parishes of Halifax and Antigonish.
